The most appropriate method of analysis for each individual sample supplied will be assessed, based on the Laboratory’s knowledge and technical expertise.

Platinum Group Metals (PGM’s) in metallic, powder, solution, ore and a wide range of catalysts (both new and spent) forms can be analysed. PGM’s, either individually or in combination are separated from their matrices by a variety of wet chemical procedures:

Smelting or Scorification, followed by cupellation is used for recovering small amounts of precious metals from insoluble residues. Contract specific analyses and procedures may be followed for certain tests.
In order to ensure impartial and accurate results, different separation procedures may be employed, followed by a variety of instrumental (e.g. ICP-OES, AAS) techniques.
